Rain rain go away
was the theme for the last camping trip of the year. This trip took us to Young State Park in Charlevoix for four days w/ friends Dean and Tammy, Matt and Gretchen and their son Brett, Kurt and Tina and their daughter Taylor. Normally one of our favorite spots, but three days of rain definitely dampened the trip...
It rained off and on...but definitely mainly on. There were bouts when the rain stopped, so everyone could scatter from their campers and enjoy some sanity outside before we had to huddle up together again under the awnings or back in the campers. These were nice times for walks and bike rides, or just sitting in the strollers enjoying each others company... (Emily placed herself here... not momma or daddy.)
What else to do? Well, what better after two days of rain than to have a water balloon fight! Here Emily is helping to fill the balloons w/ Taylor and Brett.
Ok, so maybe getting wet w/ the water balloons wasn't that much fun. It's much better to just keep blowing them up and popping them. Emily didn't want hers popped, so she was protecting them...(Momma got to pop 10 or so that were found in the camper before we left.)
So it rained Thursday on the drive there, all of Thursday night, Friday until about 3:30pm, and Saturday until 2pm. Well 2pm came, and darn it, we were hitting the beach! We had sand to play in (and , uh, more WATER to play in), and toys to play with. Friends of ours brought their jet skis and shared w/ the kids.... (although looking like they're floating, by themselves, w/o life vests on, no one to hang on to... they really aren't. Daddy was just cut out of the pictures...)
Ahhhh, but here's daddy. Floating on an anchored jet ski got old fast.....Emily got to go for a ride...
And Zachary got to go for a putt....
Zachary also continues to prove that he has no fear. Momma walked w/ him in the water... and he just kept going and going. I thought up to his shoulders was plenty far enough...
And a family picture... Zachary had a blast w/ all the toys. He was "vroom vrooming" on the stand-up...
Finally, Sunday arrived... a bright, beautiful, sun-shiney day. Time to go. Figures.
"Wake up daddy! Let's go outside!"

One season ends; another begins. Time to put away that camping attire and gear for some "Go Blue" football. Bring out the family;
grill those hot dogs, enjoyed with a side of beans and coleslaw; hang the Michigan flag; toss the football; take "the walk": cheer the team; dance /toetap/ clap with the MI Marching band; sing the song. It's tradition! Are you ready for some football?
Oh and by the way- great photos and loved the part of the momma finding those "stored" water balloons in the camper. Better she brings those home instead of bugs, frogs, etc...
