Trick or Treat
Our busy week continues....
The Halloween plan was to pick up Emily and Zachary from daycare just after naps. We wanted to make sure we had enough time to go home, get ready (choose Emily's costume), get Old McDonald's chicken nuggets for dinner, eat at Busia's and Dziadzia's and be ready to go trick-or-treating! Emily was so excited about the upcoming night, that she didn't take a nap; daycare saved the note so I could read when I got there "NO NAP." Great.
So, the rest of the plan was put into action and we were at Busia's and Dziadzia's, fed, dressed and ready by 5pm. OK, so maybe next year we don't have to leave so early. Emily kept asking when we could go, and she sat on the porch watching for porch lights to turn on.
As we waited... dun Dun DUN... Emily's choice for this year was Cinderella...

About 5:30 ish, we were still waiting for more lights to turn on. But daddy was stationed at Busia's house ready to hand out the Hershey bars, and Emily was raring to go. Momma and Busia decided just to take Emily and Zachary to the neighbor's house while we waited for more lights to come on. Then the plan was for Zachary to help Daddy w/ the candy at the house. Well, the neighbor (Miss Heather) always makes special treats for the kids and had hot caramel apples for them! They also always decorate their house, and had a scary skull and scary smoke that made Zachary jump and cry. Momma went to comfort him, but it wasn't the scary stuff that made him cry, it was Busia trying to take Zachary's apple!! SO, apple in one hand, and Busia's fingers in his other hand, he was off running wanting to go to another house. I hadn't anticipated this. I had no jacket, and it was COLD. The plan was one house, return Zachary to hand out candy, and THEN go out. (Don't the kids know that Momma likes her plans??) But, Zachary and Emily wanted to continue... so we did! And after the next house, Zach pulled Busia's fingers to go to another house. He couldn't say "trick or treat", and he couldn't walk up the porch steps w/ his costume on, but he knew these people were handing out something and he wanted it!! Still, after 3 houses, it was just to cold for him, so Busia retreated w/ Zachary as Momma and Emily continued on. Thankfully, Busia joined us again (w/ a jacket for momma!) to finish the walk down Jefferson Street.
Emily had a lot of fun... as did Momma and Busia. She wasn't as prompt w/ the "thank yous" as she was last year, but I think it's because she was in awe. People would place a treat in her pumpkin, and she'd just stand there smiling not wanting to move.
When we returned home, Daddy inspected the candy, and we each had our favorite treat. (Dziadzia and Zachary had already had the caramel apple.) And then we all helped Busia pass out the rest of the candy. We forgot Zachary's hat, (and he woudn't wear Eeyore's head), so luckily Dziadzia had an extra stocking cap to share...
One more picture of Emily and her pumpkins... Daddy and Emily spent Gate Night carving one more... Emily has continually asked for HER pumpkin to be carved, (remember the creepy white one), so Daddy finally obliged. It said "Emily".

Gosh! Two photos with Dziadzia Rezler in the picture. So many things to say here but I'll just go with "Mellowing Proud Grandfather" and leave it at that...
A lovely Halloween photo gallery. Thanks for sharing.
