Question of the day...
Momma learned a pretty big lesson yesterday.... we'll see how long it sticks w/ me.
Yesterday on the way from day care, Emily asks:
"How do we get to see God?"
Hmm, I instantly panic. We've never talked about death. (Our goldfish died and we told her that it was very sick, went to the doctor and the doctor was going to keep him.)
Only recently, (through the summer time anyway) have we ever talked about "killing" anything, and that has been limited to ants, flies, spides and bees.
So yesterday, when she asks me, I'm thinking "what do I say? how do I talk about this? I don't want to scare her? where do I begin? maybe I can just get by w/ my standard type of "God" answer about how he's all around us, or something simple like "we go to church to see God" and make something up easy for her to understand."
Then I realize is the key is for her to understand.... I'm trying to rationalize as an adult using adult thoughts and words, and maybe that's not really what she's looking for...
So, I turn it around and say "Well Emily, how do you think we get to see God?"
And she says "with a ladder."
Ahhhh. Yes. With a ladder. Exactly. That sounds about right.
We left it at that... even after she wanted to continue with "where is the ladder? and why can't we see it?". That was enough for momma for one day.

You might have told her that she sees him every time she goes to Ann Arbor for a football game. He is the one that drives in from Illanoy in the green car.
