April showers bring...bikes, crocuses and walleye!
Daddy and Zachary had their last jeep snow ride in March... April was time for the weather to finally break!!
The kids couldn't wait to start playing outside...(I'd say Momma and Daddy couldn't wait to get the kids outside either!) They were so excited to pull their bikes out again. (Zachary really does have another helmet, we just couldn't find it.)

And it probably doesn't need to be said that Zachary COULD NOT WAIT to get the jeep out. He has become quite the driver... forwards, backwards, steering around trees and dogs. He particularly likes to take sister for a spin...

Of course, to be expected, the break in weather was followed by a freezing snap and Momma was afraid that we might miss the annual crocus picture.... just in case we took this....
But then luckily the crocuses hung on for this... (which happened to be a Wacky (mis-matched) Wednesday for Emily at school.)
At the end of April, we celebrated another Walleye Festival w/ Daddy and his jeep friends.... this year the Walleye Princess (Emily) was joined by the Walleye Prince (Zachary) and even Momma and Daddy! Momma is still not crazy about riding in the parade, but this year we had candy to throw (apparently the thing to do, and last year we had none....really adds a lot of fun when you can toss (ie pelt) parade goers as necessary.) Emily and Zachary had a blast... Emily threw handfuls; Zachary...one piece at a time. Then he'd crane his neck to watch the kids pick up the candy... and he wouldn't throw another piece until his last piece was picked up. And every time someone shouted "thank you!", he'd answer "you're welcome".

After the parade, Daddy took off for home...(ie "took off"... like revving the engine, making lots of jeep noise and going fast.) Emily's immediate response only beat Zachary's immediate response by a half a second.... Emily: "I don't like that". Zachary "I LIKE THAT!".
The end of April also brought time for Zachary to finally try out his training pants. Momma has been waiting for Zach's teachers to say "uh... it's TIME!". He'll be 3 and I know they're wanting to move him to the pre-school room... so we gave it a try on the 27th. It didn't work too well. He had no interest in staying dry, or rather... didn't care when he was wet. Huh. We re-grouped w/ his teachers, and then tried again in a couple days. The night before, we laid out his clothes and Momma explained he was going to wear big boy pants to school... "Look Zachary, they have puppies on them." Zachary goes through the pile of big "boy" pants, and pulls out a pair w/ pink flowers (left over from Emily.) "I want to wear dose. I won't go potty in dose Momma." Momma even tried to put the pink flowers on the bottom of the pile the next morning, but it didn't work. He asked for the pink flowers. Ok. This is relative and if he says he won't go potty in them, we'll give it a try! It really did work... although Momma thinks it was the general motivation of his friends and moving to the next room rather than the pink flowers. It's been 2 weeks now, and we've only had a couple bad days... and a lot of yucky poops....(which is the next hurdle to work on.)
April flew by, and here we are 1/2 into May... getting ready for Emily and Momma's visit to Aunt Tamara!

Wait...where are all the walleyes? Were they tasty? Did you catch any? Inquiring fishy minds need to know!!

Zachary looks like a real performer in the annual crocus photo. Sunglasses look like a microphone and he's really hamming it up for the camera. Perhaps an American Idol down the road?

We didn't actually catch any walleyes....there's polluted water up in these here parts you know.
And the microphone/sunglasses in his hand are actually a collection of twings that he picked up along our walk...
YIKES! Better get my glasses adjusted.
