Mid-September Catch-up #4...(and I think this catches us up.)
After the car cruise, and the Notre Dame Game, there was the Midland Hot Air Balloon Festival on Sunday. It's been around for years, but we've not been able to make it before. (Last year there was too much fog.)
This year, we arrived at (what would be) the landing spot, and followed the exodus of balloon vans. Apparently, they gathered there, just to test the wind to determine where they would take-off from. And we followed so we wouldn't miss anything! It was neat. We saw about 8 or so balloons prepare for launch.
One balloon's team said we could get as close as we wanted...so we got to touch the ballon and watch from the basket as it inflated. The captain even asked if Emily wanted to stand in the balloon. Momma thought that was neat...but he didn't ask me. Emily....she was scared of the fan, so no standing in the balloon.
Once we watched the balloons launch, we followed the balloons back to the landing area. I think Momma and Busia were just as excited as the kids! (if not more.)

We had a hard time choosing favorites...but here is E&Z pointing out a few...
Emily said her favorite was this purple and green balloon. (I have no idea why. Her favorite color is pink; almost every balloon was more colorful, and this was one of the last we saw!) I think Z's favorite was both the bear and the pirate...

What a beautiful day ! What fun ! Two questions popped into my head. First, next time will you get to travel in the balloon from the start to the designated finish? And...did you sing "Up,up,and awaaaaaaaay in my beautiful balloon?" I bet Dzia can teach E and Z the words to that song...
How cool!
