Aloha Summer!

Emily and Zachary's summer travels came to a close at Aloha State Park. It was the annual trip w/ our friends (that used to be Daddy's friends from work but after many many years and job changes, turned out just to be friends! In all, I think we've made 11 trips in 13 years.)

It was a weekend of the usual fun.... playing, enjoying the sun, taking naps, lots of good food, bike rides, really big campfires (sayonara to daddy's broken chair) and a bunch of other silly things that Daddy and the boys got into (like hurling a 60# piece of driftwood in some version of cave man olympics...fun fun stuff.) It was truly a time for all to play.

Emily and Zachary have seemingly become pros at fishing... (perch this time. You can't see it, but Z actually has about a 3" perch on his hook.)

And of course there was playing in the sand... Emily is here w/ her betrothed Brett. (Brett and Emily's daddies not only work together, but have known each other since 2nd grade. Brett also is the one who taught Momma that it's ok for Zachary to get DIRTY while camping....they clean up just fine!)
Did I say dirt? Here Zachary is pretending.... "I pickeeng up poop". Well good thing! He could get started on this chore at home! (I do not know why he's licking his lips as he pretends this; I think it's because a comment had been made about the dirt circle around his mouth.)
But momma's most fun was just sitting by the water watching the boats go by...(as long as no one was whining that is.)All the kids found a tree to climb... of course Emily and Zachary didn't actually do much climbing. On the last day of vacation, Emily started to get a little sad for our last trip to be almost over. She asked for everyone to take a picture so that she could show her friends who we went camping with... good idea!
So here's Gretchen, Matt and Brett, Kurt, Taylor and Tina (holding Emily), with Daddy, Momma and Zachary in the back.

Was the bait of choice, for the fishing pros, hotdogs by any chance?

To Emily:

It is sad summer is ending. But with the end of summer comes the beginning of another season of MICHIGAN football: family and friends, hot dogs, tailgating, watching the band, tossing the football around, cheering "Go Blue", etc... Life is good.
