Mid-September Catch-up #3

Our busy weekend continued w/ football against the Fighting Irish on Saturday. It was a late game, and it was a tough decision for Momma to try Emily for such a long day. Silly Momma. Ask Emily what she wants to do and she says "I want to go to football." And even more, she wants Zachary NOT to go to football. SO away we went. While Momma and Emily were gone, Daddy and Zachary went to visit Grandpa to help him w/ his jeep project...Hmmm, I think this child will give Daddy a run for his money.... (literally and figuratively.)Back in Ann Arbor, our tailgate was one of our largest thanks to Zoe and her momma and Busia. Emily really enjoyed her visit!

In prep for the game, Momma and Emily discussed "the Others" once again. This time is was about "the Other Irishes". It really wasn't too hard to explain either. We're the Wolverines; they're the "Fighting Irish". We just share the same name...and we don't want them to win.

At the game, Emily did great once again. She went for a walk w/ Dziadz, and came back w/ snacks, got pompons from Mr. Bill, Drew and Mr. Bob the Builder, went for a walk w/ Momma and got a bandanna and a pizza... BOY, no wonder she likes football! I think Momma was 28 years old before getting anything at a football game! (And that was because I was pregnant w/ Emily and needed to eat all the time!)

All that excitement, and a 3:30 start really took its toll. She never crabbed or whined, but I could just tell that all the standing and sitting was tiring her out. I asked her if she wanted to sit and rest on Momma and she just nodded. Not 5 minutes later, she was out. OUT. (Phew. I could always sleep at football games when I was little... Emily has the gene!) She slept for about an hour and was ready for the rest of the game!

And thankfully, we finally had something good to cheer about! At one point Emily said "We're not going to be sad this time".... nope. Not this time.

On the way home, she asked if we could dance. I had to think about what she was talking about for a minute. When we watch games at home, we jump and dance around. At the stadium, there's not so much room, and then we hurry to the car. She wanted to dance! SO I said sure, when we get home, we'll dance.

The night was capped by fireworks over the Z-bridge.... as if they were shot off just for us! Emily thought that was neat. And then of course, after the several reminders throughout the drive home, we danced before a quick bath and bed!

Who needs a game as motivation? I think there should always be a happy and maybe even a little silly dance with your kids before bath and bed. Go for it.
