Jingle Bell Rock...

Emily and Zachary's daycare Christmas Program was held last Friday.

There was a lot that aggravated me about the evening... mainly that it was 6:30 on Friday night, which happens to be Zachary's bed time. But, Emily had a BLAST! She was so proud, and I spent the evening smiling so hard I had tears in my eyes...

Prior to the program, we tried for a sister/brother picture in front of the tree, but being Zachary's bed time, he was having a particularly tired time... we got them to barely sit w/ Busia and Dziadzia...
The program was held at a church not far from daycare... (it's a church that rented space to Great Beginnings near 20 years ago; it was only shortly before Emily was born that they bought their own land and started their own building.)

We were worried dropping Zachary off. Even for 6pm, he was not a happy boy. Miss Maria said we should just leave... just like we do in the morning... and he'd be fine in a minute. THANK YOU MISS MARIA. Listening outside the door a few minutes later revealed a screaming little boy.... but it was not Zachary! Phew.

Emily on the other hand, could not wait to get there, get to her room, see her friends dressed like Princes and Princesses, and start the program! She ran w/ my hand pulling me along and didn't even stop to look when she joined her friends and I stopped to turn back to find our seats. Where did my baby go??

After the babies and older infants, it was time for the toddlers... (I'll save further aggravation, only to say that Zachary should still be in the older infant room)... I don't know that I've ever seen a deer actually caught in headlights, but I'd imagine that's what Z looked like... the pictures may not be that great... just look for the smallest child and that'd be our boy! The first song was "The Bean Bag" song...which can only be described it as a version of the hokey pokey, w/ a bean bag...
Followed by "We wish you a Merry Christmas"...(at least he's not picking his nose like the little girl in front of him...)Zach had a rough night! Before Emily's turn on stage, he had a quick minute to cuddle w/ his blanket and paci and watch the rest of the show...EMILY'S TURN....
I don't know how she ended up front and center... (that would not be either Momma's nor Daddy's daughter)... but she did! And she LOVED it! She waved, and said "HI" to Busia, Zachary and momma (who was right up front for pictures.)

Here she is w/ a whole slew of 3 year olds...
And singing her little heart out... something about blackbirds named Jack and Jill (their little hands making the "hang ten" sign are being the blackbirds... (which, in learning this, she's also taught her friends to make "Aunt Tamara's longhorns' sign.")And now singing "God is so good"...It was just a wonderful program!!
Emily's turn to relax and enjoy the rest of the show...In other news, Emily also received the second gift of Christmas this weekend... (the first being the Dora van from Grandpa.) Busia and Dziadzia bought her a beautiful big girl bed....Now she just has to keep Zachary off of it...
She uses a step stool to climb into it, and looks a bit like Alice in Wonderland curled up on only the couple feet closest to the headboard... but she just loves it!

Wow... Emily really is belting it out in that close-up. Great picture.

And, from now on, if I ever catch a deer in my headlights... I'll say, "Did you see that deer? He looked like a tired little boy at a Christmas pageant."

Zoe's daycare "concert" is on a Wednesday... a day she doesn't attend. What a shame.
